Pipe Boxings

Installation of Pipe boxings

Measuring and marking up of the setting out battens - using a tape and pencil

Measure the length of where the pipe work runs using the tape, transfer and mark the desired dimension onto the timbers using the tape and pencil

Cutting and fixing the setting out battens - using a chop saw spirit level and pin gun

Place the timber onto the chop saw and cut to the mark from the previous stage ensuring your hands are safely away from the blade when pulling the saw down, place one of the battens on the floor ensuring it is parallel to the wall and slightly proud of the pipe work, fix into position using the pin gun, place the second timber batten onto the wall ensuring it is slightly higher than the pipe work at it highest point and fix at the high side using the pin gun, place the spirit level on top of the timber batten and raise or lower the batten as required, once level fix into position using the pin gun

Measuring and marking the side panel of the pipe boxing - using a tape, spirit level and pencil

Measure the length of where the side panel is to be positioned using the tape, transfer and mark the desired dimension onto the sheet material, place the spirit level onto the timber batten on the wall and level up over the pipe work, measure from the underside of the spirit level to the floor for the height of the side panel using the tape, transfer and mark the desired dimension onto the sheet material

Cutting and fixing the side panel of the pipe boxing - using a rip saw and pin gun

Cut along the marks from the previous stage using the rip saw, place the side panel into position and fix the side panel to the timber batten on the floor using the pin gun

Measuring and marking the top panel of the boxing - using a tape, spirit level and pencil

Measure the length of where the side panel is to be positioned using the tape, transfer and mark the desired dimension onto the sheet material, place the spirit level onto the face of the side panel and plumb up, measure from the wall to the face of the side panel using the tape, transfer and mark the desired dimension onto the sheet material

Cutting the top panel of the pipe boxing - using a rip saw

Cut along the marks from the previous stage using the rip saw

Cutting and fixing the support batten to the underside of the top panel of the pipe boxing - using hand saw and pin gun

Cut a timber batten the same length of the top panel with the hand saw, place the timber batten on the underside of the top panel, ensure the timber batten is sat back from the front edge of the top panel by the thickness of the sheet material, fix the batten into position using the pin gun

Cutting and fixing the side panel of the pipe boxing - using a pin gun

Place the top panel into position and fix the top panel to the timber batten on the wall using the pin gun, fix the side panel into the support batten which is fixed to the underside of the top panel using the pin gun
